Our boys varsity team won the Sectional and Region championships for the second year in a row over very good teams from Carrollton, Harrison, and North Gwinnett. We placed 5 in the top 16, and all 7 in the top 45. Here are full results.
Our JV team finished 2nd to a good Harrison squad, but beat North Gwinnett for the first time this year to win the JV Region crown. Up next is the state championship meet in Carrollton on Saturday, November 8 at 11 AM. Our Broncos competed at two meets in the first weekend of October. The Varsity boys finished 13th at the highly competitive Great American XC Festival in North Carolina, and our JV squad finished 3rd in their race at the same meet. The rest of our JV group competed at the Alexander / Asics Invitational and won the JV-Black division race. Lots of PRs and SBs for our kids this weekend, as we had some cooler conditions (finally!).
Rankings have been updated. Up next for our Broncos is the Coach Wood Invitational on 10/18. Our boys were successful in winning the highly competitive Carrollton OrthoWest Invitational on September 6 and the Gwinnett County Championships on September 13. Our JV squad then faced off against North Gwinnett in a dual meet at Alexander Park on September 23.
Now we head into October, where the weather should cool, and the courses will speed up! On October 4, our team will be competing at two different meets, as 24 of our fastest will head to Cary, NC to compete in the Great American XC Festival, while the rest of our JV team will compete at the Alexander-Asics Invitational. Team Rankings have been updated to include September meet results. Even without 9 of our top 12, our Broncos were competitive in both races at Lamar Murphy Park on a relatively cool, rainy day. Leading the way in the Varsity Navy race were sophomore Malcolm Phillips, freshman Abraham Lopez Yax, junior Angel Sena, senior Talib Simpson, and junior Cade Holder. Our squad finished 6th out of 17 teams.
In the JV race, our boys were led by senior Tyler Nguyen, freshman Justin Gonzalez Torres, and junior Art Ayreault. This JV squad finished 3rd in their race. Up next are a pair of meets after Labor Day weekend: The North Hall Invitational (9/4) and the Carrollton OrthoWest Invitational (9/6). Click here for complete results from North Georgia. We had a great opening to our season with the team time trial on Saturday, 8/9. LOTS of guys improved on their times from last year, and overall, it was a terrific start to the season.
Up next for our Broncos is the North Georgia Championships in Jefferson. Meet information has been posted on the schedule page. |
