After success at the Great American XC Festival, the Alexander-Asics Invitational and the Coach Wood Invitational, our Bronco runners are ready for championship season. We'll compete on Saturday, 10/21 at the Horse Park against our region foes: Parkview, Grayson, Archer, Newton and South Gwinnett, working to defend our region titles from 2022. The top 4 teams and top 6 individuals will qualify for the state championship meet on Saturday, 11/4.
Rankings have been updated after our last several meets, and meet information for region is posted on the schedule page. At the Gwinnett County Championships, our boys teams ran tough in the cool but muddy conditions. Our varsity boys finished in 2nd and were led by Alex Thompson, Carter Dehnke, and Austin Dezwart who all earned All-County honors by finishing in the top 10 overall.
In the JV races, our boys dominated the competition, winning both the JV Championship and the JV Open races. Leading the way in their respective races were Spencer Fusillo and Luke Emmett in the JV Championship race, and Wyatt Lee and Max Rothman in the JV Open Race. At the Alexander-Asics Invitational, our varsity boys finished 3rd in the Varsity Red race and were led by Austin Dezwart and Alex Sotomayor who both finished in the top 15. We won the JV Red race and were paced by Christopher Cerwinka and Daniel Krauss. Lots of our guys earned season's best times on Saturday. Up next for our Broncos are the prestigious Great American XC Festival in Cary, NC on October 7 and the Coach Wood Invitational on October 14. Our boys ran well in two different meets this past week.
On Thursday at the North Hall Invitational, our guys battled pretty warm weather and a competitive field to win with a score of 33 points. Leading the way for our Broncos were freshman Cade Holder, juniors Eli Giguere, Caleb Tsehaye, and Matthew Desta and sophomore Ryan Middleton. On Saturday at the Carrollton OrthoWest Invitational, we had pretty nice conditions and finished 10th in a loaded field in the Championship race. Leading the way for our boys were junior Alex Thompson who finished 7th, senior Carter Dehnke who was 14th, sophomore Alex Sotomayor, senior Ashton Frandsen and junior Sage Brooks. In the Varsity Large School race, our boys got some great competition. Leading the way for us in that race were freshman Luke Emmett, sophomore Christopher Cerwinka and junior Alex Ethridge.
