2020 Athletes of the Week
After each meet, we will recognize two athletes who have not only performed well in that week's race but have also been excellent in the work they've done at practice.

Zackery Sanchez ran so well at the Alexander-Asics Invitational that he improved his best time by almost 2 minutes. His PR is down to 21:54, and he is working hard to take it even further down!

Junior Oscar Garcia has been absolutely killing it in his workouts lately, and it showed at the Lambert Quad Meet, as he was our 7th finisher in the most competitive race with a new PR of 17:32.

Junior Alex Bean has been killing it in his training group, and the work is paying dividends. While he was part of the "Wandering 12" at the county meet and didn't get an official time, his estimated equivalent is 3:00 faster than a year ago! Keep up the good work, Alex!

Brycen Sterling was our 5th-best finisher in the JV III race at the Alexander-Asics Invitational, helping to seal the win for our team in that division. His new PR of 19:48 is a minute faster than his PR of 2019.

Faheem has been a strong leader in training group C, and as a senior, he has worked so hard to get better. And at the Lambert Quad, that hard work paid off as he set a new lifetime PR of 20:13!

Freshman Andrew Bacon is new to distance running, but his hard work is paying off! His improvement each week is a direct result of always pushing himself to do more at practice, and his sterling time of 23:09 at the County Meet is only the beginning!

Freshman Austin Dezwart finished 2nd in the JV 3k race in his first official race as a Brookwood XC athlete. His time of 11:07 was only 2 seconds behind the race winner. Austin regularly leads B group in workouts and training runs. Hard work pays off!

Sophomore James Wallace led most of the guys in his training group, finishing the 3k at NEGA in 13:31, a new PR for that distance. James always brings a great attitude and work ethic to practice!
