Why Run Track?
Some choice comments from UGA Head Football Coach Kirby Smart on the value of track speed and multi-sport athletes in NCAA football recruiting:
"25 of these 26 played multiple sports, and I think we all know the indicators of playing multiple sports"
On their 4-star WR: "He’s a 21.4, 21.3 200-meter guy that I know and have a lot of respect for track speed,"
On their 5-star defensive back: "He’s a great track athlete, 10.4 100 meters, and I don’t know if you know much about that, but that’s faster than pretty much anybody we’ve got on our team right now, and he’s big. So he’s big and he’s fast. He’s a 20.8 200 meters. I mean, the guy can fly, and he’s really competitive."
DRESSING OUT: You may dress in the boys locker room, but if you keep your clothes in the locker make sure you have a combination lock on the locker. Never leave your possessions unsecured in the locker room. The best option would be to dress in the boys locker room and bring your bookbag to the visitor side bleachers in the stadium. Have your parents pick you up at the track or at the front of the school.
Will start at 2:30 and end at 4:30, be on time. There is no loitering after practices in the school building at all. You should be off the school grounds by 5:00. This includes after meets as well, you should make arrangements to have somebody pick you up immediately after we return from a meet. Make sure you bring the appropriate work out clothes for cold and windy days as well. Make sure you have an appropriate running shoe to train in. We will not cancel practice because of rain. We will only cancel practice if the county decides to cancel all after school activities.
Congrats to STATE CHAMPION and NEW SCHOOL TRIPLE JUMP RECORD HOLDER Khalil Hasan!
You're #1, Khalil!
