2008 SHARK-OF-THE-WEEK
This award is given after every meet to athletes who have a tremendous impact on the team score, particularly when that impact is made late in the race.

VOLUNTEER XC INVITATIONAL
9/27/08

Tommy George (11th) Tommy out-kicked Walton's #1 runner to finish 5th overall, and helping us to put 4 athletes ahead of Walton's first finisher. He ran the final straightaway in a meager :20, the fastest of the day!

Zac Brooks (10th) Zac won the JV race with ease, leading his team to a dominant victory of 18 points! Zac pulled away from his teammates at the 2-mile mark and finished in 17:57, a respectable mark on a course as slow as this one!

MILL RUN 9/27/08

Justin Whitaker (11th) Justin led his team to a 4th place finish at the Mill Run, despite the JV team missing many of its runners who competed in Knoxville. Justin placed 12th overall, and was the only Brookwood harrier to break 19:00 on the day - way to go Justin!

GWINNETT COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS 9/20/08

Morgan Malanoski (9th) Morgan's finishing time of 18:11 in the JV race was a 40 second personal best, and IF the meet were scored for 9th graders only, he would have helped to lead Brookwood to a terrific win against some of the best freshmen in the state!

Sean Hitchens (12th) After a rough week at Carrollton, Sean stepped it up and finished as our 5th runner in the varsity race, scoring valuable points by out-kicking two Collins Hill runners in the last 100m. His final 200m were run in :35, second best on the team, and that kick made a difference!

CARROLLTON INVITATIONAL 9/13/08

Sean Brennan (10th) Sean won the AAAAA Varsity race going away, surging away from his teammates in the final mile, and leading a dominant effort with his time of 17:34 - a fine 5k mark for a course as difficult as this.

Doug Kalmbach (12th) Doug finished 4th overall in the Championship race (16:15), passing 5 guys in the final 400m of the race, finishing the final .1 miles in a meager 36 seconds, best on our team that day.

MILL CREEK QUAD 9/11/08

Billy Coggin (10th) Billy led the Broncos 2nd place finish on the tough Little Mulberry course with his 6th place finish overall. His time of 19:05 was just off his PR set on our fast time trial course. Those morning practices are paying off!

STAGE RACES 8/23/08

Kevin Marsh (9th) Kevin ran severe negative splits to finish 2nd in the 1st junior varsity stage, with the surprise finish of the day. He pulled away from the pack at the mile mark and never looked back, ending up with a fine start to his career as a Bronco!

Zack Robinson (11th) Zack's kick at the end of the stage 2 varsity race turned the momentum in our favor at the Stage Races, as his 2nd place finish pushed a Collins Hill runner back to 3rd, tying us with them for the lead. After his finish, we went on to win by a score of 10-16, a comfortable margin in this style of meet.
